Chemistry Help (mostly math stuff)?
I have several Chemistry problems I need help with. I don’t just want to know answers I want to know the process.

I know this one has to do with moles I just can’t remember the steps :

What is the mass of 5.20?1021 platinum atoms?

and this one Conservation of Mass and law of definite proportions and multiple proportions:

An automobile gasoline tank holds 20kg of gasoline. When the gasoline burns, 86kg of oxygen is consumed and carbon dioxide and water are produced.
What is the total combined mass of carbon dioxide and water that is produced?

And this one…

Assume the radius of a neutron to be approximately 1.0 x 10^-13 , and calculate the density of a neutron. [: For a sphere V=(4/3)pie(r)^3.]

If anybody can help it would be greatly appreciated. Also any tips on studying, or recalling information, etc… anything that has helped you the most with chemistry or math in general?

We are all sons of immigrants… aren't we?
"Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

To me this represents what America is all about… A great nation, welcoming those willing pour blood, sweat and tears into a better future… For their families, for their community, for their country. I am the daughter of an Immigrant, and so is everyone… The weirdest thing people do is to assume that they are all from Mexico… My mother was born in Uruguay. She decided to come to America when she found out she was pregnant with me. She worked two jobs. She paid for EVERY THING I NEEDED. Paid for our hospital bills, our food, our rent, our heat. She always made donations to my school by buying extra pencils, notebooks, tools, books, the works, for me to bring to class and share with those who didn’t have those things… She always donated clothes we didn’t need instead of throwing them away. She always threw what little change she had into the collection basket at the door of our supermarket (the local church was always raising money for a different cause). She said that America was our home, and in our home most people spoke english, so she asked me to teach her little by little our home’s language… but still remember her roots, and her spanish heritage. We never had food stamps, or welfare or Access cards… She taught me to be kind to people, and it would be returned to me… SHE WAS AN ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT THE WHOLE TIME SHE WAS HERE… 23 YEARS. I, as her daughter, could have made her legal, but she said that there was no need, because if we were good people and respected their laws, they wouldn’t send her back… How naive, she was… A few years ago, an aneurysm she had in her aorta exploded. She barely survived the surgery. Illegal immigrants are not allowed to purchase insurance, and because she had no insurance, all the hospital had to do was stabilize her and send her home. I begged them to keep her, I didn’t need to be a doctor to know she wouldn’t survive at home… The doctor said "the rules are the rules"… She died a couple of days later… in the emergency room.
Do you think it’s fare to put everyone in the same basket? Do you think all immigrants are evil? To all those "Americans" out there, who hate them because they say this is their country and no one else is allowed here but them, I would ask you to trace your ancestors and tell me you are not the son of an immigrant. You, me, we are able to call ourselves citizens of this great country THANKS TO MY MOM, YOUR GRANDFATHER, WE OWE IT TO THEM. Would you tell your forefathers they are not welcome here because they were born somewhere else? I don’t think so… Yes, a lot of them are here illegally, but that’s only because they are not given a chance to change that status. Don’t you think it would be right to give these people the chance to earn the right to be here? Can’t they come up with some kind of eligibility plan for those who have the same intentions as the ones who came through Ellis Island?

Welcome to America.. Now learn english, obey our laws, pay your share of taxes for your services recieved(welfare, police, health care) or get the f*** out of my country. Why should I or my kids have to learn a new language cause border jumping baby machines are invading my country? Sorry for your mother, she is an exception not the rule. many illegals here use our services while not paying taxes and taking opportunity away from us citizens, then these liberal communists who are toked out on pot use irrational argument of racism to retaliate against those who want to maintain a free country. While these illegals bring violence, drugs, and a lower standard of living here
I have no problem with those who lawfully come here for opportunity like my ancestors did, but those who eat away at our resources are vermin feasing away on our productions and need to be removed from our system, when you have a bad apple in the bushel, you do not rid change the whole bushel, you remove the bad apple, and thats how we solve our problems

Mark | Feb 01, 2010

sure if we can come up with a type of machine that we can use to scan people and read their intentions we can just let in the ones that are here with good intentions and keep out the illegal aliens that are estimated to have killed more americans last year than the wars in iraq and afghanistan combined from start til now. until that machine exists i supposed immigration control is a good idea.

We are all sons of immigrants… aren’t we? Pretty much so, including the American indians.

But we are NOT all the sons of illegal aliens thank god. HUGE difference. Those people that blatantly disregard U.S. laws by illegal immigrating here I have no desire to learn nor do I care what their intentions are.
mammu | Feb 01, 2010

the native americans were very well established in this country, long before the pilgrims, spanish, or french even knew this place existed. now, we are populated by every country in the world. i happen to like open spaces, and fewer people. i don’t have anything against anyone just because of race or where they came from, i just don’t like the open borders, and i don’t feel these terrorist orgs. should even be classed as human.

Apply, save, wait and meet all the criteria to come to America, welcome.

Crap on our laws and illegal immigrate, accept the consequences. This nation wasn’t built on illegal immigration.

Open the borders and watch this nation die…..quickly.
Forest | Feb 01, 2010

10 to 20 million illegals in the United States. Videos of marching illegals threatening to "shut the country down" if they are held accountable for breaking our laws. Crowds of hispanics marching through American streets burning our flag, chanting anti-American sentiment, and demanding the rights, privileges and benefits of American citizens. International soccer games played in America where the home side is booed and the Mexican team is cheered. Billions of dollars in social costs for medical, educational, housing, criminal, and other areas associated with the huge influx of illegals. Special interest groups like La Raza that encourage and support defiance of immigration laws and applaud "reconquista". This is not immigration, it’s invasion. This is not assimilation, it’s an attempt to balkanize our country. Cinzano, Texas: Official language for the city government is Spanish. Sanctuary cities: Defy federal law and not allow law enforcement to apprehend those who entered our country illegally. When Alabama tried that federal troops were sent to make sure the law was enforced. This is what should happen to sanctuary cities. All federal aid to these cities should be stopped, as well. Your story does not reflect what is happening on a major scale to the United States. It’s time for Mexico to take care of its own. We are not a "nanny" state for Mexico’s problems.

US is first inhabited by the Indians before those expedition from britain came and conquer the land. Britains think high of themselves and that is how discrimination started… regarding your question…. the place has a huge track of land/…. you can always make a room for some more pips.. if you could look at it… US is bigger that europe I think…. and europe has a lot of counties in it…. plus if you would take a look in other countries… here we have more people than space were we can pitch our tents… so there you go… welcome the immigrants and be merry… by the way i am a great grand daughter of a spanish gentle man and my country is not spain… so there you go….
robelyn | Feb 02, 2010

Hey everybody who is against illegals. Why do you hate them so much? Aren’t we all imigrants too? Our ancestors have travled here long ago. Why do you hate them. Listen, we take jobs right? But do you think that an American citzen will work in the most extreme places for 12 hours without break, in fear of getting deported and getting paid almost nothing? Think about it. Do we really need "papers" to live on this planet? If you believe that other countries are rich, you are wrong. People leave countries in order to have a better life. I know a friend that came from Peru. His family lived under the worst condtions ever. His father day and night worked. Still, the family barely lived. Here, they are happy. All the imigrants want is to have a good life and be successful, like everybody else. Do we really need laws to pick where people live? So, people, let’s stop being ignorant and welcome these people. Huh?
Falmaata T | Feb 02, 2010

How long did it take you to write all of that?

Without spending an hour reading through your rant; NO, we are not all immigrants. If you were born here you are a native. By your twisted logic, even American Indians are immigrants because they migrated across the land bridge from Asia through Alaska.

If what you say is the case, then are Mexicans not natives of Mexico?
Kevin R | Feb 02, 2010

No,we shouldn’t give them the chance to earn their right to be here. They had the chance to be here the legal way, they chose to break the law instead. They earn the right to be here by following the laws instead of sneaking across the border.
Jan | Feb 02, 2010

Not by a long shot.

My ancestors applied for and were accepted by this country. They did not DEMAND.. FORCE.. THUG their way into this country, and citizenship was granted to my ancestors.

And the illegal aliens have already told us what they think of our country. They had a multimillion man march and demanded their flag be respected, their language be made part of their culture, and that they be respected and given citizenship. No one allowed them to come.. and if you look at the envirnment, you discover it would be far, far better if they had not.

Finally, lots of people think it is great that they are making babies and growing our population. But if you give American Women free pre natatal care, free hospital care, and free post natal care, they will produce so many babies you will have to stand up to sleep.

Please… take the illegal aliens.. and go home.
Joel W | Feb 02, 2010

What if in the future the U.S.A. , Canada , and Mexico all become one country as some are predicting, what will we gripe about then ? I suggest worrying about the idea of a ” New World Order ” If that happens then we have alot more to worry about than illegal immigrants. The New world order is going on mostly unnoticed by the American public. C’mon people open your eye’s…

Nuclear questions & elements?
1) The ratio of carbon-14 to carbon-12 in a prehistoric wooden artifact is measured to be 1/8 of the ratio measured in a fresh sample of wood from the same region. The half-life of carbon-14 is 5730 years. Determine the age.

2) Health officials are concerned about radon levels in homes. The half-life of radon-222 is 3.82 days. If a sample of gas taken from a basement contains 4.38 U g of radon-222, how much will remain in the sample after 15.2 days?

3) Explain how the equivalence of mass and energy accounts for the small difference between the mass of a uranium-235 nucleus and the masses of the nuclei of its fission fragments.

4) Describe the similarities & differences between atomic electrons & beta particles.

5) Why do people working around radioactive waste in a radioactive storage facility wear badges containing strips of photographic film?

I don’t have the time for these problems. I’ve got to work on 4 other classes, biology & algebra among them.

How do I straighten my hair?Without a straightener..?
So my straightner broke a couple days ago and my natural hair is waves but i just like straight hair idk why i just do. Except we cant get one right now because the snow is like over 3 ft. deep. I have tried the blow dryer it works but not all the way are there other things that work?

You can use an actual iron… like put your hair flat on an ironing board and have your mom or your friend iron it straight.
The blow dryer tends to work to, just use a round brush or any kind of brush and blow dry small sections at a time while brushing.

Why wont you idiots admit avatar is not best picture material?
Just use your heads. Do a thought experiment. What if the special effects were at the level of transformers? Would it still be a good film even? A film is not best picture material if only one aspect of it is exceptional.

How to install a Hydrogen unit in a 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander?
Well I got a unit, form ebay, and I did not know that you have to do something like the o2 extenders or something like it. If some one could help me out how to install it, also just letting you know It is a gasoline car not a diesel.

Thanks Guys, hope I get some answers

Write it off to a bad EBay deal and don’t spend anymore on it. The Hydrogen bit is the current biggest scam on the Internet.

What should I do on the second date with this girl?
Alright guys for our first date i took her out ot a pretty nice resturant where we just talked and really got to know each other very well. Before the date we had been talking and texting for a long time so she easlily sad yes when i asked her out. Now i have asked her out a second time and we are going to a movie. On the first date i kissed her goodnight in order to try and break down that awkward physical barrier that exist when you first start dating someone. Now when we go to the movies im thinking about trying to kiss her and maybe makeout a little bit just to see how she responds in order to find out whether she likes me like i think she does. Should i try to kiss her during the movie or just play it safe and go for the hand holding? also if i should go for the kissing whats the best way to see if shes interested so i dont look like a dumbass an inch from her face?

haha your not a man lol

sexy mum43 | Feb 03, 2010

def stick to hand holding! put your hand under her chin and guide her face toward yours and kiss her a few times during the movie, but dont make out yet.
Jn223 | Feb 03, 2010

if she said yes twice then she prably does like you if not you think she would have gone? first start off by holding her hand then just try and kiss her see what happens goodluck
Moises | Feb 03, 2010

Put your hand around her shoulder and grab her booby. HAHA. No, don’t do that, it’s disrespectful. Just go for it, looking like an idiot is eminent.
David | Feb 03, 2010

Hmmm…..
Good question. These are the same questions I asked myself.
You should just go for the hand holding. It’s better that way. She might not like it if you try to go for the kiss on the second date. It will look like you want to go fast in the relationship. If she really likes you she’ll be the one to kiss you. But then again, it depends on the type of girl she is. But just to be sure, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
fortiz40 | Feb 03, 2010

Being a girl, i would prefer the hand holding for a second date and a longer kiss goodnight. You don’t want to come on too strong. it could scare her away from the relationship. Cuddling is good too.
Kelly S | Feb 03, 2010

during the movie put your arm around her and then see how she reacts to that if she likes it give her your hand and wait to see if she puts her hand in yours. if she does thats good. then give her a little quick kiss on the cheek if she dont mind that go for the kiss on the lips and see what her reaction might be.
Tabbie Anne | Feb 03, 2010

Contrary to popular belief, girls are very easy to read. If she didn’t want to have some sort of a relationship with you she wouldn’t have agreed to date you so easily in the first place. You should stick with just holding hands during the movie, but at the door to her house, instead of just a quick kiss, try to drag out the kiss a little longer. this way there will be no distractions (the movie) and you will know exactly where you stand.
Michael | Feb 03, 2010

Alright I have the perfect thing for you. It may be a little corny but you should be willing to get your feet wet by now. During this movie during either a part that is predictable or a romantic scene, (I’m hoping your holding her hand for most of the movie) while holding her hand bring it towards your mouth and bend the neck slightly and kiss the back of her hand. Proceed to kissing your way up her arm up to her face. If she is looking at you kiss her, if not maybe a nice peck on the cheek or a sweet comment in her ear. Good luck Romeo.
Nathan | Feb 03, 2010

well, im a girl and ive been in those awkward movies where the guy definitely wants to make a move, but doesnt know if he should.
i think that making out in a movie is always really weird, because there are so many people around and you might run the risk that she is actually, genuinely interested in the movie.
so maybe for your second date you take her to dinner and then to blockbuster or something and tell her that you’re in the mood for a ‘classic’ and pick out some cheesy romantic movie that you’ve already seen. then invite her back to your place to watch the movie. less awkward, more private, no one cares about the movie.
cha-ching!

good luck!
suppastar101 | Feb 03, 2010

it depends on the movie you;re watching but I think you should kiss her nice and softly when you walk her home or when you say good bye.
NIce and soft and then a little bit more passionate and put your hand on her face …u know gently
Personally I woudln’t wanna be kissed during a movie. It’s awkward in the theatre.
Good luck

Second dates are good grounds for holding hands, and maybe a kiss or two, don’t make out with her unless she like attacks you. Then you gotta show her how mature you are and don’t just go for it, but make it so there is a boundary or "not too much". She would be more likely to go on a third if you show self controll.

IMDB rating: 5.70

Plot: Liberty Wallace, who lives in Los Angeles, isn’t at all uncomfortable about her links to the weapons business. Liberty is a key player for McCloud Industries, one of the largest gun manufacturers in the United States. She’s the Vice President of Marketing, she’s the daughter of the company’s founder, and her husband is the company’s ruthless CEO, America’s premier arms merchant, Victor Wallace. While former war hero Victor is busy trafficking in international armaments, Liberty uses her business breaks to conduct an affair with actor Russell Williams. The balance of their marriage shifts when a sniper named Joe trains his rifle on Liberty as she walks through a busy Los Angeles park on her way to meet with Russell. Joe calls Liberty on her cell phone, and orders Liberty to handcuff herself to a nearby hot dog vendor’s cart — the cuffs are already there. Liberty has no intention of submitting to Joe’s wishes — until Joe begins firing shots. Quickly convinced, Liberty locks herself to the stand, only to learn that it is loaded with enough explosives to take out a city block. If she calls for help, hangs up the phone, mutes the phone, or fails to cooperate, the bomb will go off. Joe has also attached a bomb to Russell, who’s now trapped in his dressing room at a local theater. Liberty realizes she can’t buy her way out of this situation, and she is forced to consider Joe’s demand for an anti-gun forum. The reason why Joe is doing this is because his daughter was fatally shot by a school classmate who used a gun that was manufactured by McCloud Industries. The death of a child can break a parent’s mental balance. Now, Joe is demonstrating to Liberty what it’s like to be on the other end of the weapon, and show Liberty the horrors of what she has had a blind hand in for years. Victor has apparently bartered illegal deals without Liberty’s knowledge, ones that have resulted in easier access to weapons for street dealers — the ones who sold the weapon that killed Joe’s daughter. As a result of his daughter’s death, Joe wants Liberty to use her political connections and this incident to spark a public debate on the Second Amendment. Despite his past as a CIA agent, Joe no longer supports the unequivocal right to bear arms. Joe lets Liberty know that she’s going to die, but that she can die a hero if she exposes the company’s shady business dealings and political connections before she’s killed. As Joe monitors and records her every move, Liberty reveals secrets about her own past, and her business dealings. When Victor, who is also having an affair, finds out that Liberty has been taken hostage, he’s torn between following company protocol — protecting himself and allowing Liberty to be killed — and trying to help her.

Is this proof, that the U.S. was or wasn't founded on any specific religion or philosophy?
cannot believe in the immortality of the soul…. No, all this talk of an existence for us, as individuals, beyond the grave is wrong. It is born of our tenacity of life — our desire to go on living — our dread of coming to an end.
– Thomas Edison

Lighthouses are more helpful than churches.
– Benjamin Franklin

When a religion is good, I conceive it will support itself; and when it does not support itself, and God does not take care to support it so that its professors are obliged to call for help of the civil power, ’tis a sign, I apprehend, of its being a bad one.
– Benjamin Franklin

If we look back into history for the character of the present sects in Christianity, we shall find few that have not in their turns been persecutors, and complainers of persecution. The primitive Christians thought persecution extremely wrong in the pagans, but practiced it on one another. The first Protestants of the Church of England blamed persecution in the Romish Church, but practiced it upon the Puritans. These found it wrong in the bishops, but fell into the same practice themselves both here and in New England.
– Benjamin Franklin,

I have found Christian dogma unintelligible. Early in life I absented myself from Christian assemblies.
– Benjamin Franklin,

The study of theology, as it stands in Christian churches, is the study of nothing; it is founded on nothing; it rests on nothing; it proceeds by no authorities; it has no data; it can demonstrate nothing and admits of no conclusion.
– Thomas Paine,

What is it the New Testament teaches us? To believe that the Almighty committed debauchery with a woman engaged to be married; and the belief of this debauchery is called faith.
– Thomas Paine,

short time elapsed after the death of the great reformer of the Jewish religion, before his principles were departed from by those who professed to be his special servants, and perverted into an engine for enslaving mankind, and aggrandising their oppressors in Church and State; that the purest system of morals ever before preached to man, has been adulterated and sophisticated by artificial constructions, into a mere contrivance to filch wealth and power to themselves; that rational men not being able to swallow their impious heresies, in order to force them down their throats, they raise the hue and cry of infidelity, while themselves are the greatest obstacles to the advancement of the real doctrines of Jesus, and do in fact constitute the real Anti-Christ.
– Thomas Jefferson
To discriminate against a thoroughly upright citizen because he belongs to some particular church, or because, like Abraham Lincoln, he has not avowed his allegiance to any church, is an outrage against that liberty of conscience which is one of the foundations of American life.
– Theodore Roosevelt

The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg.
– Thomas Jefferson,

My earlier views of the unsoundness of the Christian scheme of salvation and the human origin of the scriptures, have become clearer and stronger with advancing years and I see no reason for thinking I shall ever change them.
– Abraham Lincoln

In religion, Mr. Lincoln was about of the same opinion as Bob Ingersoll, and there is no account of his ever having changed. He went to church a few times with his family while he was President, but so far as I have been able to find out, he remained an unbeliever. Mr. Lincoln in his younger days wrote a book, in which he endeavored to prove the fallacy of the plan of salvation and the divinity of Christ."
– Judge James M. Nelson,

"The purpose of separation of church and state is to keep forever from these shores the ceaseless strife that has soaked the soil of Europe in blood for centuries."
[James Madison, 1803]

"The question before the human race is, whether the God of nature shall govern the world by his own laws, or whether priests and kings shall rule it by fictitious miracles?"
[John Adams]

"The care of every man’s soul belongs to himself. But what if he neglect the care of it? Well what if he neglect the care of his health or his estate, which would more nearly relate to the state. Will the magistrate make a law that he not be poor or sick? Laws provide against injury from others; but not from ourselves. God himself will not save men against their wills.
But a short time elapsed after the death of the great reformer of the Jewish religion, before his principles were departed from by those who professed to be his special servants, and perverted into an engine for enslaving mankind, and aggrandizing their oppressors in Church and State."
[Thomas Jefferson, to S. Kercheval, 1810]

"…If we did a good act merely from the love of God and a belief that is pleasing to him, whence arises the morality
I am a christian by the way. But this is the truth.

The treaty of Tripoli

Threaty of Tripoli

Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.
@Q-Tip

Really, point them out. You don’t even know who the founders are do you?
@u_bin_ca

I challenge you to produce them from the list of founders.

I couldn’t help but overlook the fact that half the people you mentioned had nothing to do with the founding of our country.

America was founded on the principle that you could become whatever you wanted to become regardless of what you believed and who your parents were as long as you worked for it.

No. It’s a list of cherry-picked quotations from a handful of people that you’ve used to confirm your bias.

Many of the original ideas which established the U.S. were based on Age of Enlightenment principles that had its roots in many traditions…including Judeo/Christian philosophy.

The framers of the U.S. Constitution were not Christians as we think of them today. In their time humanism was the philosophy most popular among intellectuals. Not completely counter to Christianity but not exactly 100% compatible either, humanism was almost a way of thinking more so than a religion. Though the term humanism wasn’t really used to describe their philosophy until much later, the framers believed that human reason could solve many of the world’s problems. It was reason that could set men free, not organized religion.

Many of the framers despised organized religion though many were devoutly religious.

EDIT: I like how you post essentially the same question elsewhere on Yahoo Answers and then, when I call you out on it, you have my answer deleted as a violation. Classy.
